Skatch: Privacy Policy

Your audio recordings stay on your device and never reach us. We use usage statistics and crash reports to improve the App. If you contact us from the App, we receive your e-mail address, your message and technical logs.

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how SMARTPOSITIVE SARL ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses and handles information when you use the Skatch mobile application ("the App").

2. Information we collect

a) Audio recordings

All audio recordings you create in Skatch are stored locally on your device only. They are never uploaded to our servers, never transmitted to third parties, and never accessible by us. You have full control over your recordings. They leave your device only if you export and share them yourself.

b) Usage statistics (Firebase Analytics)

We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand how users interact with the App. Firebase may collect the following automatically:

An app instance identifier
Device model, OS version and language settings
Approximate country, derived from your IP address
App version and session duration
In-app events (for example projects created, recordings started, exports completed)

These identifiers don't reveal your name or e-mail address, and we don't try to identify individual users from this data. No audio content is ever included in analytics events.

c) Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics)

If the App crashes or meets a serious error, a technical report is sent to Firebase Crashlytics: the error, device model, OS version and App version.

d) Messages you send us

The contact form of the App is optional. When you use it, we receive:

your e-mail address, subject and message;
a device report: App version, device brand and model, OS version, audio settings and latency measurements, and the names of the audio devices connected;
the most recent technical logs of the App.

No audio recording is sent. This information is transmitted to our website, kept in its logs on our host (OVH, France) and sent to us by e-mail. We use it only to answer you and fix problems, and we keep it as long as needed for that purpose. You can ask us to delete it at any time.

3. Microphone permission

Skatch requests access to your device microphone solely to record audio clips within the App. The microphone is only activated when you explicitly start a recording. Audio captured through the microphone is stored locally on your device.

4. Third-party services

Skatch integrates Google Firebase (Analytics and Crashlytics), which operates under its own privacy policy.

We do not integrate any advertising networks, social media SDKs or data brokers. We do not sell personal data.

5. Data retention

Firebase Analytics data is retained according to Google's data retention policies (typically 2 months for event-level data, up to 14 months for aggregated data). You may request deletion by contacting us.

Local audio recordings remain on your device until you delete them in the App or uninstall the App.

6. Your privacy rights

Under the GDPR (EU/EEA residents):

Right to access the personal data we hold about you
Right to rectification and erasure
Right to data portability
Right to object to processing
Right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in France, the CNIL)

Under the CCPA (California residents):

Right to know what personal information is collected
Right to delete personal information
Right to opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal data)
Right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights

7. Children's privacy

Skatch is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

8. Data security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information we process. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. Audio recordings, stored locally on your device only, are subject to the security protections of your device's operating system.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. The current version is always available at the same address.
